Curatorial translation
We are at a threshold where code ontology is turning sharply. This online exhibition tries not to become yet another painfully boring digital-art “completion”; we hope it behaves as a “Qiu-er” assembled from dozens of unformed browser systems, drifting allocations of temporary domains, misrecognitions from peripheral sensors, and text archives filled in by artificial intelligence without asking. Young creators with no programming background crossed syntactic barriers in vivid splits and intervened in network architecture. They deliberately keep the most precious roughness and uncertainty of experimentation: Serverless links that may be reclaimed at any moment, exposed console traces, and cameras that occasionally mistake bodies for backgrounds.
The first site of network art is never only inside the glowing screen. It happens in code access limits, in the breakage of failed loading, and in the viewer’s own loading. Here, some works force you to look at a distant Russia-Ukraine battlefield through a drone’s perspective; some monitor your face back from the dark and strip away the privilege of one-way looking; others expose semantic bias beneath artificial intelligence, or mercilessly reveal how every “front-end interface behavior” has already been caught in a designed trap.
These midterm experimental archives occlude and summon one another, and may drop offline at any moment. They offer no final draft and force no closure. They prefer these unstable temporary aggregation portals, where labor, intention, machines, and the materiality of the network can be seen on equal terms.
